Tom Ffiske Steps Down As Communications Director

The Quidditch Premier League is saddened to announce that Tom Ffiske, Communications Director, has stepped down from his role, effective immediately. Anna O’Gara, previously Deputy Communications Director, has been named Acting Communications Director.

Tom, who has been a part of the organisation since its founding, will rejoin as Communications Consultant effective 1 March, 2019. His departure as Communications Director is due to his desire to pursue other projects as well as enjoy a well-deserved rest from his intense involvement in the sport in recent years.

During his time as Communications Director, Tom oversaw some of the most effective and impactful coverage of quidditch that the sport has ever seen, securing numerous live news broadcast opportunities and countless features of the league. Particular highlights include the launch of the Quidditch Premier League live on Sky News Sunrise, and an extensive feature on BBC Breakfast after our first Championship.

‘Tom has been an invaluable part of the Quidditch Premier League since its founding, and we will forever owe him a huge amount for what he has brought to the organisation and the sport,’ said Jack Lennard, Director of the Quidditch Premier League. ‘His talents, knowledge, and experience in the world of communications have set us apart from the competition in our early years. I’m incredibly excited to see the department and league continue to flourish on the foundations he has laid, and am looking forward to continuing to work with him in his new role of Communications Consultant from March!’

‘Over the last two years, since starting the organisation with Jack, it has been an enormous privilege to work alongside our volunteers,’ said Tom. ‘I am proud of the work we have accomplished, and the impact we've had both inside and outside the community. I am sad to be stepping down as Communications Director, but look forward to consulting the organisation come March. I fully trust Anna, and the rest of the team, to make 2019 the biggest year in the league’s history!’

We will shortly be featuring an article profiling Anna, who has been named Acting Communications Director, and her exciting plans for the season ahead. The Quidditch Premier League is sure all our players and fans will join us in wishing Tom all the best for his future endeavours, and giving heartfelt thanks for his incredible work over the last two years!
